Anne Jakins

For the past ten years Anne has been the SENCo at a UK comprehensive school, responsible for a large and fully inclusive department catering for students with a range of special needs many of them complex.

In 2000 Anne was invited by the Technology Schools Trust to visit Atlanta in Georgia to observe good practice in ICT and SEN. More recently she has been a member of the EUN Virtual School sharing policy and practice with international colleagues.

For the last year Anne has been involved in a collaborative eTwinning project with an SEN school in Porvoo Finland. A range of ICT tools have been used to enhance cultural awareness, target self esteem and teach study skills. The project won National Awards in both countries and was featured in the TES and the International Herald Tribune. Anne has had experience training SEN staff and giving presentations to promote international partnerships.

 

Nicholas Falk

Nick is a teacher of chemistry and ICT with considerable international project experience. This includes being a member of the planning team of the EUN Virtual School, UK administrator for a multi-lingual chemistry project and an eTwinning ambassador role for the British Council.

Other educational activities include a consultative and advisory role with Becta and the European Commission for the Environment.

Nick has also worked in an Editorial and content advisory capacity for the Royal Institute’s “Science Inside Out” website, and as a content provider for “Learnthings from the Guardian”.

Danielle Miles

Danielle is a teacher of ICT and math. She taught ICT at a UK School for nearly 3 years and is currently teaching 8th grade Math in Statesville, North Carolina in the USA.

She has considerable experience in the ICT arena having come from a background in industry as an IT consultant and web designer both in the UK and the US.   She has a great interest in the area of e-Learning and is currently working on an enterprise to link US and UK schools via a virtual learning environment incorporated within the media of the Internet, focussing on the educational use of current technologies.
